About the project

Music that fits your kalimba.

Extreme Kalimba is an independent music project built to help kalimba players turn a melody into an arrangement they can edit, practice and share.

What you can do here

Import MIDI, choose an instrument tuning, edit notes, review a thumb-friendly arrangement suggestion, practice with falling notes, and export MIDI, printable tabs, numbered sheet music or a video with synthesized kalimba sound. You can also start a blank song or try the site's original examples.

Your instrument matters

Key count alone does not describe an instrument. The studio uses your chosen tuning and tine positions, including multirow layouts and repeated pitches. Check the profile against your own kalimba before arranging a song.

Automatic arrangement and thumb previews are aids for reviewing a passage. They cannot guarantee that a passage will feel comfortable or be playable on a real instrument.

Your device does the music processing

Music conversion, audio transcription and exports run in your browser. Your songs and recordings are not uploaded for processing. Local saves belong to this browser, so download project backups for music you want to keep. See the privacy notice for hosting and feedback details.

Free to use

The tools and exports are free and do not require an account. Optional donations help support hosting and development. Find the donation link on the support page.
